FLINT 0 SHOTTON 45

This was the worst start to a season for Flint, result and weather wise in a long time. With a depleted squad due to injuries and unavailability, Flint lost their tighhead prob Ross Mitchell in the warm up with a pulled hamstring forcing them to start the game with uncontested scrums and no subs.

The first half saw Shotton rack up 21 points with no reply and the second half was much the same. Even though Flint had their fair share of possession the score line didn't do their efforts any justice. Once the ball left the forwards, where there had been parity all afternoon, the backs weren't able to make any in roads through the Shotton defence with Shotton capitalising well on every mistake made by the home team. Flint fought bravely right to the end whistle but to no avail, with fine performances from Ryan Beck and Kieron Jones in the backs, and Mitch Martin, Loz Rogers, Owain Roberts and man of the match Jake Shill in the forwards.

Flint showed enough heart and tenacity in the game for it to only get better in the coming weeks.
Yesterday was a bad day at the office with a very leaky roof!
