The first half saw Flint putting good pressure on Rhyl, good yardage being made through ball carries and close support. With 3 tries in the space of 20 minutes Flint seemed to relax thinking the job had been done. Playing a very singular game, Flint stood off the Rhyl forwards allowing them build up a team game against them, resulting in 2 quick tries for the visitors to make the scoreline a threatening 19-12. Flint managed to score a 4th try before halftime to make the scoreline a more respectable 26-12.
After a stern halftime talk, Flint realised the error of their ways and returned to a team performance where the forwards took on their Rhyl counterparts to dominate the set pieces and loose play. This enabled the backs to play the running rugby they are so capable of, orchestrated by their general and fly half Tom Prydderch. Prydderch had an excellent game, oozing confidence he scored a try and converted 7 of the 10 tries scored on the night. Prydderch controlled the game completely, running excellent lines and offloading to strike runners, putting many in for their own tries.
Mitch Martin capped off a captains performance with 3 tries, flanker Loz Rogers and hooker Owain Roberts worked tirelessly in the loose, not taking a backward step all night. Flint throughly deserved their biggest win over a senior Rhyl side and look forward to their next opponents in the semi-final
