Despite a strong 1st half effort away against Llangollen in the league, injuries and unavailabilities eventually took its toll on a spirited Flint side, with the home side eventually coming out convincing winners, winning 46-0
With mainstay hooker Owain Roberts having to cry off on Saturday morning due to a recurrent injury, Flints set piece struggled all afternoon against a strong and well drilled Llangollen pack. Roberts wasn't the only Saturday morning casually as veteran 2nd row Phil Elder and strong running winger Andy Hewitt also cried off due to knee injuries sustained in Flints previous game against Newtown, to add to Flints woes, winger Sam Lewsey was carted away to hospital following a courageous tackle, where they've had to keep him in until Monday after breaking his tibia.
Despite all the disruption, Flint fought hard all 1st half pressing the home side's line on numerous occasions but to no avail, going into the interval 13-0. Unfortunately Flint couldn't capitalise on their hard work of the first half and after the departure of talented young loosehead prop Jake Shill due to a head injury, Llangollen totally dominated the set piece and came out 46-0 winners.
Although Llangollen came out convincing winners, the score line didn't reflect Flints effort in the game and the efforts of half backs Ryan Beck and Damian Goss, the centre partnership of Tom Prydderch and Kieron Jones and fullback Ryan Jones. Jones didn't stop trying to keep the game alive all afternoon, but man of the match for Flint went to blind side flanker Loz Rogers for his continuous work rate and leading from the front.
Flints first league win of the season still evades them, but hopefully their fortunes can change next week when they entertain south Walian side Treherbert in the Swalec Bowl competition.
