Flint worked hard yesterday for no return against a heavy Bro pack and conditions.
After losing at Bro in the cup earlier in the season by more than 40 points, Flint knew they had their work cut out, but work they did against a big Bro pack in muddy conditions that suited the heavier side. For the first 40 minutes Flint barely came out of their own half and with their own set piece not functioning well, the pressure on them increased. Flints loose play and work rate was exceptional however, frustrating Bro and keeping them to just one converted try in the 1st half.
The 2nd half saw Flint managing parity in the scrums, but their lineout was still letting them down, mainly due to the unavailability of pivotable player and hooker Owain Roberts. Had it been working Flint would of earned themselves something out of the game yesterday. Bro obviously came to Flint with one mind and that was a win with bonus points. Flints brave determination denied Bro the bonus point and the possibility of them topping the table. Bro did manage to score another 2 tries, but Flint finished the stronger pushing for a consolation try, showing some tremendous support play and handling, but unfortunately it wasn't to be.
It was hard to pick a MOM for Flint as all the players filled their shirts with pride to give a top performance, with the back row of Loz Rogers, Jamie Elder and Captain Mitch Martin and also the half back pairing of Geraint Jones and Tom Prydderch stating claims, scrum half Geraint Jones was eventually chosen to be Flints MOM.
It was disappointing that the players and management of Bro Ffestiniog didn't show the respect the Flint players deserved by staying for the food that was made for them and post match formalities
