Flint 14 Welshpool 36

Flint entertained Div 2 side Welshpool at Cae Castell in the NWU Bowl Quarter Final under the lights with a decent size crowd eager for a cup upset. Unfortunately the visitors didn't read the script and had other ideas. The well drilled Mid-Wales outfit were dominant for large phase of 1st half, racking up a 26 point lead at the turn. Flint did have spells of attack as it wasn't all one way traffic, though the phases of attack couldn't break the resolute Welshpool defence.
After some soul searching at the break, a resurgent Flint finished the game on a more positive note grabbing two consolation tries. Flint had the lion share of the possession in latter stages as the traveling side tired, although their first half display gave them a buffer sniffing out the possibility of a Flint come back.
The 1st XV don't return to action until December with an away trip to league leaders Denbigh 2nds. The Castlemen XV take a trip to Ruthin 2nds on the 24th November in the North Wales seconds league.
